About LEGAL ACTION COMICS Volume Two:
LEGAL ACTION COMICS Vol. 2, a 292 page paperback comics anthology featuring strips by seventy three of the cartooning world's top talents makes its debut in September 2003!
Featuring contributors like Art Spiegelman, Kim Deitch, Skip Williamson, Harry S. Robins, Tony Millionaire, Kaz, Michael Kupperman, Sam Henderson, Glenn Head and many others, plus fiction by "BEE SEASON" author Myla Goldberg, Legal Action Comics Volume Two is quickly becoming the most eagerly-anticipated comics event of the season!
Legal Action Comics Volume Two is the eagerly-anticipated sequel to 2001s critically acclaimed comics anthology, LEGAL ACTION COMICS Volume 1, which featured work by R. Crumb, Art Spiegelman, Kim Deitch, Robert Williams, and seventy other artists. With its appealing blend of diverse cartooning styles and offbeat humor, Legal Action Comics Volume Two carries on in the tradition of ground-breaking underground comics milestones like Zap Comics and Raw.
Legal Action Comics Volume Two, (like the preceding volume) features many of the underground comix worlds heavy hitters, including including Pulitzer Prize winner MAUS author Art Spiegelman, BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS author Kim Deitch, SNAPPY SAMMY SMOOT creator Skip Williamson, WEIRDO contributor Harry S. Robins, PUNK Magazine founder John Holmstrom, and others.
Readers of alternative newsweeklies will be pleased to find strips by UNDERWORLDs Kaz, STORY MINUTEs Carol Lay, MAAKIES Tony Millionaire, REHABILITATING MR. WIGGLES Neil Swaab, and others in the pages of LAC #2.
LAC #2 taps cartoon talents from around the globe, featuring contributors from all over the US and Canada, as well as London, Dublin, Buenos Aires and Tokyo.
LAC #2 also features a previously-unpublished short story by the best-selling BEE SEASON author Myla Goldberg, illustrated by SHUTTERBUG FOLLIES author and artist Jason Little.
Legal Action Comics Volume Two is edited by Danny Hellman, an editorial illustrator and cartoonist whose work has appeared in a wide variety of publications, including Time, Sports Illustrated, The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, FHM, The Village Voice, New York Press, Out, Jungle Law, and The Nation.
Hellman has also curated numerous art shows in New York, including the legendary Cartoon Show at Max Fish, a yearly event which brought NYCs cartooning community together for over a decade.
Legal Action Comics Volume Twos preceding volume, (2001s LAC Vol.1) was initially conceived as a fund-raiser to benefit his legal defense fund.
"While LAC Vol.1 was a modest success as a fund-raiser, I found that much greater satisfaction came from the process of self-publishing. When work began on the second volume in January 2002, I was determined that LAC Vol. 2 should surpass LAC Vol. 1 in the quality and variety of the material. Now that the book is complete, I think its safe to say that Ive hit that mark."
"Every day I see more and more uniquely talented artists working in the comics medium," editor Hellman continues. "It gives me great pleasure to help bring their work to a wider audience, and I hope that I can continue to do so in the future."
